Of resolute pigeons and other anecdotes
Fancying Pigeons have been for over a century a big passion among Cubans. The ups and downs of Cuban history made Fancying culture full of anecdotes and particularities.
From the top of the roof, where we have been perched for a good half an hour, we scan the panorama "matancero". Flocks of pigeons flying over its fantastic bay form a nervous wave of wings. Camacho tells me - "Pigeons here are like Cubans, fighters." My host in Matanzas, Member of Honor and sub-delegate of that association, among many other titles, is a good-natured and mustachioed 56-year-old giant that has been dedicated to raising and flying messenger pigeons for 48 years.[...]
